Still great after all these years. We have visited El Gaucho at least a dozen times over the years and it seems to keep getting better.
We have dined here twice on this trip and both times the food was superb. It was prepared exactly as ordered and was of top quality. On the first visit we had a small (8 ounce) tenderloin and the 18 ounce sirloin. On our second visit we had the port tenderloin and the rack of lamb. The portions are generous and usually generate left-overs for lunch the next day.
The service was prompt but unobtrusive both times. We go early (between 6:30 and 7) to beat the rush as it gets very crowded later in the evening. We were seatred in two different dining rooms that were off of the main room so the traffic and noise was less there.
This year it seems the inflation has hit the prioces at many of the Aruban restaurants but I believe that the Gaucho has stayed a great deal for the quality of the food. We will be back the next time we visit the island. [10 Mar 2007 12:47:08]
